this to save money but is there any problems changing from windows to free downloads to take their place. I am running again but need to up grade with the least expense or problems. as things are very thight at the moment.
Well, being a Linux user myself, it really comes down to what you want from your machine. If you have a collection of games that you often like to play, then you may find it better to stick with windows. If however you use your machine for Email, Web, Office productivity, then Linux may be a sufree windows upgrade downloadsitable alternative for you. I currently have a dual boot on my machine. 90% of the time I'm in Linux (Ubuntu), but I do boot in to windows at times, so that I can play some games or use photoshop. (If there was a version of photoshop for linux, and if linux played more of my games, I would be done with windows totally.)
Hope this helps.
is generally a sane choice.
As for problems - some more obscure hardware might not work, and you'll need to find Linux alternatives to most of the software you use.
Linux is growinfree windows upgrade downloadsg in popularity as people migrate from Windows to Linux.
I suggest you go to Ubuntu Linux's site (search for it) and download the Live CD. Burn it and boot from it. This will basically give you a taste of Ubuntu linux without installing anything on your computer. If you like it and want to install, you can do it straight from the CD.
Try some Linux live cds, this is a brilliant way to get started and still retain your Windows system.I must warn you it is a very addictive hobby.Good luck!!
